Is it acceptable to use a car seat used if ...?

I have a seat of the craigslist used car before I realized you do not use carseats used. Matches anything else to buy a stroller, play yard, swing ... my question is if I replace all belts and buckles on the chest that would make acceptable the use of a used car seat? I need to try to save money for all the other things we need to buy baby then in this way, it will be closer $ 60 for the seat instead of 100 or more for a new one that does not even match that is actually still a major concern, but I thought if I replace the 5-point harness straps tongue straps and everything must be right? and a completely new basis. thanks guys! What you should do is confirm that there was an accident with the previous owner and check the expiration date. Somewhere in the seat, is or should be the date of manufacturer. If the seat is more than a couple of years (depending on the seat - which I've heard anywhere from 4 to 6 years or more is considered bad), then he should throw or see if you get your money. The problem is not the straps (unless yours are worn or damaged) is that the plastic seat is deteriorating over time and can break in an accident.
